Located in the beautiful Seneca Park is the Seneca Park Zoo. The usual elephants, lion and tigers await visitors of all ages, but the enjoyment goes beyond the warm-blooded performers. The park offers grassy areas, two playgrounds, picnic pavilions, hiking trails, a trout pond and a footbridge across the Genesee River George.
One site that cannot be missed is the Frederick Douglass Museum and Cultural Center. An escaped slave, Douglass spent 25 years in Rochester. He published the Abolitionist newspaper, The North Star and aided Harriet Tubman in her plight to help slaves escape through the Underground Railroad. The museum offers a research and archive library, permanent and traveling exhibits and so much more.
The whole family can find something intriguing at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Exhibits include traditional, interactive and hands-on varieties to encourage visitors to explore science and technology, the natural environment and the cultural heritage of Rochester. The exhibits change on a regular basis making every visit a new experience.
