Rochester is a culturally rich city with exceptional offerings for the art-minded individual. The abundance of available outlets stem partially from the work of the Rochester Art Club. Founded in 1877, the Art Club is one of the oldest continuously active art organizations in the country. The Club works to promote and advance the artistic growth of its professional membership. It is also focused on contributing to the cultural enrichment of the community. The Club offers, among other things, lectures, demonstrations, slide shows, workshops taught by nationally acclaimed artists and social events.

The University of Rochester is home to the Memorial Art Gallery. The gallery’s collections include 50 centuries of the world’s most exquisite art. Major exhibits and private collections are on display. Interactive activities for visitors of all ages are available in the Gill Family Center. More than 500 pieces are on display.

The internationally recognized Eastman School of Music and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra keep the city steeped in musical events. Rochester Geva Theatre Center debuts many original works and features lives performances year-round. Rochester maintains a very active theater scene with a multitude of regional theater companies. The Rochester Broadway Theater League (RBTL) is an all volunteer organization that provides management and services for the performing arts and entertainment. The RBTL strives to enrich all people through experiencing the best in arts and performance.
